Before the early 90s, women and girls in Gympie played in the boy’s competition. But in 1993, Rene Deschamps, Tanya Lilwall and Janessa Jones started a four team women’s competition (pictured on the right). By 1996 there were 80 female players over 16 in Gympie and 40 under 16.
