Men's Football in North Queensland

The North Queensland zone is situated on the Country of the Gudjal, Gugu-Badhun, Nyawaygi, Wulgurukaba and Bindal peoples. The zone stretches from Ayr, past Townsville up to Ingham, and inland to Charters Towers. 

There's a stadium here, can we get a football team into it?

Football has been popular in North Queensland for decades. There is evidence of teams and a competition in 1893 and in the first decade of the 21st Century the town supported a club in the A-League. 

North Queensland is in part a coastal region centred on its largest city, Townsville, a major seaport. Unofficially North Queensland is considered to have a southern border that begins south of the the Mackay Region boundary. 

Football in North Queens;and is thought to have begun with Townsville Football Inc., a not-for-profit organisation, established in 1966.

In 2005, the then Townsville Junior Soccer Association amalgamated with North Queensland (Senior) Soccer Federation and formed a ‘new’ Townsville Football Inc. A decade later, North Queensland Football was created to improve and grow the game.

Today, the North Queensland Zone consists of 13 Clubs facilitating Junior and Senior competitions for around 3,500 players from Townsville, Ingham, Ayr and Charters Towers.
