After the first match in 1898, the next evidence of football in the South West region appears in 1906. In September 1906 a Toowoomba team travelled to Roasalie (Brisbane) to play Milton FC.
Football continued in Toowoomba with a Citizens Cup. In July 1908, the Queenslander reported that a Newtown A and B team met on the Polo Ground in Toowoomba with the B team proving superior, winning 4 goals to 2. The following year (1909) the Queensland Times reported that a Toowoomba team would be playing against an Ipswich team. This article seems to indicate Toowoomba’s participation in a larger intercity competition.
