PLAYER AND COACH
Johnny Peebles was Scottish-born in the late 1880s, and played for Australia (Socceroo #22). He also played for Brisbane club, the Thistles, and the 1920s QLD Rep Team. He went on to captain the 1922 QLD Rep Team. After his playing career ended, he continued in coaching and managerial roles (as shown in the 1938 QLD Team photograph). Johnny is often pictured with other Scottish player, Alec Gibb who also played and coached at the time as Johnny. Johnny’s brother, Jos Peebles, also played for QLD in 1937.
