Sunshine Coast were consistent participants in the State Championship from 1978-1996. In 1987 they won the State Youth Championship and they also hosted the State Titles in 1984 and again in 1989.
In 1982, Narelle Sach was the first player from the Sunshine Coast to make it to the State team. She was part of a strong team (pictured below – Narelle stands in the middle row on the far right). That year Queensland won the Championship. Two years later in 1984 Karen Stacey from the Sunshine Coast also played for Queensland.
